A more dynamic and
more citizen-friendly image
As in the past, the objective of this report is to allow citizens, professionals and politicians
to understand and to comment on the work carried out within the BRDA.
In reading this report, you will note the advantages of a dynamic development strategy.
You will also notice the important position given to the professionalism and the experience
of the employees, but also to new media and to technologies like the Internet.
For 2007, the figures speak for themselves. Sixty-one new company establishments were
presented to the Board of Directors, 55 new companies established themselves and four
successfully carried out an extension project. Result: 3,160 new jobs thanks to the BRDA
in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Where housing is concerned, 3,227 people enrolled in the waiting list. Since online
registration was instituted, 90 % of the enrolments have been done via the screen.
During 14 sale days, 258 residential units were presented.
Of course the number of housing units remains insuffi cient in relation to the demand,
but we are continuing our efforts to accelerate the process and satisfy the maximum
possible number of citizens.
Better communication by the BRDA in the areas of economic expansion and urban
renewel are intended to give a more dynamic and more citizen-friendly image to the
BRDA. Our institution will centre its activities on better customer service from now on.
Our enthusiasm upon reading about all these fi gures and this new dynamism must be
tempered a little, though: the BRDA is confronted with an increasing scarcity of industrial
land available in the Region and with an obvious lack of possibilities for rapidly increasing
the stock of residential units.
It is therefore urgent to forecast the future needs. And more than ever, we must establish
synergies between the direction of urban renewel and that of economic expansion,
between companies and housing.
