The mission of the Brussels Regional Development Agency is to support economic development and employment in the Brussels-Capital Region. Its activities are concentrated primarily on infrastructure for accommodating companies, especially scientific and industrial parks and buildings for companies.
The BRDA’s urban renewal mission consists of producing housing units for middle-income inhabitants in districts lacking residential construction with the goal of keeping inhabitants in the Region or bringing them back to it. These different housing unit projects are executed thanks to a partnership between the public sector and the private sector.
The BRDA is represented in the Consulting Commission for external trade of the Brussels-Capital Region and in the municipal consultation committees on urban planning.
These missions, the jurisdiction and the operation of the BRDA are governed by the ordinance of 20 May 1999 concerning the Brussels Regional Development Agency (publication in the Moniteur Belge: 29 July 1999) and by the institution’s articles of association (publication in the Moniteur Belge: 5 February 2000).
By virtue of the ordinance of 12 January 2006 on the transparency of remuneration and benefits of Brussels public agents (Moniteur Belge of 1/02/2006), the BRDA publishes an annual report on the remuneration, benefits, director’s fees, trips and seminars, etc.
